Goodbye Circuit City

As expected, Circuit City announced that they are closing the rest of their 567 US stores. This is a shocking conclusion to a 60 year old consumer electronics retail company hit hard by the bad economic climate. You can read a very interesting summary of this at their website. Liquidation sales have started. Read the bullet about the company headquarters employees; it's a shocker. I have to say that I'm going to miss Circuit City. I didn't always agree with them and I preferred Best Buy, but I still shopped at Circuit City occasionally.

Monsters HD: 2003 - 2009 RIP

Well, you won't have to listen to me carry on about how great Monsters HD is any more. Cablevision announced that they are discontinuing the VOOM HD network in the US, of which Monsters HD is a part. Check out the article here. This is a sad end to the best all horror cable channel.

Spectacle: Elvis Costello With The Police

This episode was very special to me as it featured one of my favorite artists in popular music interviewing one of my favorite bands in popular music. Nearly 30 years ago I was listening to Elvis Costello's "This Year's Model" and The Police's "Zenyatta Mondatta" back to back on a daily basis. To see these people acknowledging each others work was such an incredible revelation. I am so happy with the Spectacle series and there is more good stuff to come!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2009! Today, Atoz gained the Merrymaker title, completing the Winter Veil achievement structure with nearly a day full of PvP. I played mostly round after round of Strand of the Ancients and Wintergrasp. Finally during my last Wintergrasp round, I hopped on the right vehicle and gat multiple kills with a truely amazing pilot. Fun stuff. Looking forward to the next World Event at the end of the month.
