Blur ---> Gorillaz

This weekend's musical discovery is a natural offshoot of my recent interest in the band Gorillaz. From the Allmusic.com entry I eventually found that the driving force of Gorillaz is Damon Albarn of Blur. So, I have been boning up on that band. In our collection development efforts at West Long Branch Public Library, we have both Gorillaz CDs and Blur's Think Tank. Newly added to our collection is The Best of Blur and the Gorillaz Demon Days Live DVD. So, come on in and discover these two great bands!

10 Uses for a Broken iPod / Lost: The History Theory

Greetings from the Fortress of Solitude! Bored. I'm in the process of preparing for...oh never mind. Meanwhile, check these out: 10 Uses for a Broken iPod and "Lost": The History Theory. Courtesy of our buddies over at EW.

Watchmen Redux

I'm re-reading Watchmen, my favorite graphic novel of all time, for the nth time. It is now occurring to me that the flashback storytelling device that Alan Moore used in Watchmen is very similar to that being used in the TV series Lost. It stands to reason, since most of the creators of Lost are comic book fans too. And, you only imitate the best, right?

The Return of The Red Hot Chili Peppers

The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album Stadium Arcadium arrives on May 9th! Don't miss the first single off the album, Dani California, on the Chili Peppers website here. This song is blistering hot and amazing! If this is any indication of how good the album is going to be, it seems that we are in for another classic. The band said that this is some of the best stuff they have done since the beginning and after hearing the first single, I'm convinced!
