First, the hoarily cliched hard-boiled dialogue didn't translate particularly well from page to screen. Second, although the three stories were interconnected, they weren't as intertwined as the threads of, say, Pulp Fiction, so that at the end, there was no "ahhh, that's how it all fits together!" moment. Third, can you say casual misogyny?
